Dileptons are electromagnetic probes that are uniquely suited to accessing different stages of heavy-ion collisions and provide valuable information about the evolving medium. In this talk, I will discuss how dileptons escape the bulk medium and how their emission rates can be measured. I will then present some of my recent results on the effects of a magnetized medium, local acceleration, and isospin asymmetry on the dilepton production rate.
