My adventure with applied optics
I will trace my immersion in the field of anamorphic optics, including original solutions for separate focusing, submitted patent applications, presentations, and published results, which were obtained analytically and using the optical modeling software (CODE~V, LightTools). The discussed solutions can help in fitting a telescope, whose collecting area is larger in one dimension, into a space-restricted payload and reducing its mass. Such an anamorphic telescope with a rectangular aperture provides high spatial resolution in the dimension of its longer side. Rotating this instrument, one can obtain high-resolution two-dimensional images after post-processing. This telescope can give effectively a larger collection area and resolution as compared with what is achievable with a rotationally symmetric design.
